Leadership Opportunities for PMI Erie Chapter
Background: There are 2 leadership opportunities with the PMI Erie Chapter that we are taking nominations for. Those elected will get to be on the PMI Erie PA Chapter Board for 2 years. Any member can be nominated, you do not have to be a project manager in title, and you do not need to have any certifications such as a PMP. The basics of being on the board
- 2-year term
- Attend board meetings, plus duties that apply to your role
- Assist in the planning of the monthly member meeting.
- Attend monthly member meetings (8-10 per year)
- Participate in annual planning and goal setting
Role Descriptions
Vice President, Finance
The Vice President of Finance shall oversee the management of funds for duly authorized purposes of the PMI Erie, PA Chapter. Elected volunteer responsible for
managing financial operations, maintaining, and presenting all financial records required for chapter operations in accordance with chapter bylaws, local legislation* requirements and the PMI Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
Typical duties:
- Create a financial record for the month and review it at the monthly board meeting
- Create and maintain a budget for the chapter
- Track expenses and income
- Write checks or provide payment to vendors
- Reimburse board members for expenses
Typical time commitment: 5 hours/month
Vice President, Programs and Education
The VP of Programs and Education is responsible for planning and coordinating all educational activities for the PMI Erie Chapter. The VP of Programs and Education is also responsible for planning and coordinating any conferences held by the PMI Erie Chapter, and development, coordination, and execution of the presentation of programs relating to project management for each regularly scheduled Chapter meeting. The content of these programs is to be consistent and in accordance with the Chapter objectives.
Typical duties:
- Event planning for monthly member events
- Identify education/presentation topics that are important to members
- Find and coordinate presenters
- Communicate with presenters, confirm their availability, prep them for the event
- Make reservations with vendors
- Determine menu
- Develop PowerPoint presentation
- Provide bio of speaker and event info to communications VP
- Lead a support team for events, delegate tasks.
Typical time commitment: 10 hours/month
