Bio: Jude Shingle is an artist and educator whose career—quite circuitously—has evolved into building spaces that nurture creativity. He is currently the Arts Program Director at the Erie Center for Arts & Technology (ECAT). Before coming to ECAT, Jude most recently led the Idea Lab, the Erie Library's adult makerspace. As a Pennsylvania Teaching Artist, he has taught animation, robotics, Minecraft modding, comics, and more. He co-founded Box of Light, a non-profit offering STEM and arts education to youth. He is a past Fred Rogers Center Early Career Fellow, award-winning filmmaker, and avid minor league baseball hat collector. But his crowning achievement has probably been earning the nickname ShaKiKi (a.k.a. the off-brand Shakira) by his students after they bore witness to his dance moves.
Summary: In 2021 ECAT completed renovations of the historic Wayne Building which now houses 10+ organizations serving Erie's Eastside community and anchors our new Equity District. Join Jude Shingle as he gives a brief overview of the work happening at ECAT and how ECAT's Teen Arts Program is leveraging the principles of Project Management in our community art projects.
