Speaker Bio:

Hafez serves as an Assistant Professor of Project and Supply Chain Management at PennState Behrend in Erie, after moving from Sweden, where he transitioned from being a supply chain practitioner in several manufacturing industries over several years to become an academic researcher in Operations Planning and Control. Since he started his research at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, Hafez collaborated with more than 50 market leaders in the aerospace, automotive, construction, medical equipment, cranes, warehousing, and food processing industries. He holds a BEng degree in Industrial Engineering, three MSc degrees (Industrial Engineering And Management, International Project Management, Information Systems), and a Ph.D. in Supply and Operations Management - Tactical Planning in Complex Operations.

Presentation Topic Overview:

Demand-Driven Specialist Capacity Planning Framework (DDSCP): This framework is inspired by the “Demand-Driven Material Requirements Planning Framework,” which focuses on specialist/engineering capacity instead of material (DDMRP). DDSCP shows the stages for designing a process for planning critical human resource capacity in a demand-driven fashion, following steps equivalent to DDMRP. It gives you insights into enhancing the visibility of capacity shortages or excesses associated with projects, given the demand at a tactical level. Such visibility supports business decisions related to capacity scaling, training, promotion, downsizing, and demand intake.
