October 2021 Chapter Meeting

Please join your fellow PMI Erie Chapter members for a presentation from Gillian Julius.

One of the trickiest things to get right in Agile, especially when you are first starting out, is the art of slicing up user stories.  There are many ways to do it, but not all of them lead to a happy ending for your project.  In this session we will learn a few different techniques for breaking up stories and consider pros and cons depending on the context. If you are currently working as part of an Agile team, this talk should give you some practical approaches you can put into action right away.

Speaker Bio:

A fan of iterative and collaborate creative processes, Gillian Julius has spent the past ten-plus years steeped in all things Lean, Agile, Design and Innovation.  An Erie native, she returned to the area in 2015 after working as an Agile coach in the San Francisco Bay Area.  She then joined Erie Insurance, and spent about 5 years helping to build up a new innovation function there.  She is now working with the Destination 2025 initiative to enable greater business agility across the enterprise.  Over the past several years, her interest in deep collaboration, living systems, and transformative innovation expanded further to the domain of regenerative system design – essentially exploring the question:  How might we humans, in collaboration with the rest of the non-human living world, create ways of doing things that increase the capacity of the earth to support life, rather than diminishing it?  She studied at Schumacher College in Totnes, UK in 2017 and 2018 in pursuit of this question and since then has been active in several communities and organizations promoting regenerative agriculture and nature-based climate solutions.
